Writing Giclée Prints Article Led Me to Several Artist Resources
While writing the Giclée Prints Explored article this morning, I ran across some helpful Artist Resources. As an artist, it never hurts to find help resources that you might not need this minute but might want or need somewhere in the future. As always, some of these may be helpful and some may not be … I have not done any serious research on them but just noticed them and decided to present them as possibilites for anyone interested to research.
1. Artist Help Network - it has a lot of interesting links to people and places I would not have thought of looking for - take a peek and see if anything is helpful to you in your art career.
2. Artist’s & Graphic Designer’s Market (book) by Writers Digest Books - This book is essential in my opinion for any artist - emerging or well-established. I always enjoy the articles and tehy are well-written with lots of good advice.
3. The Artist’s Market in Austin ( do a search on artist market and see what you find! Your area may have one you didn’t know existed!) - I used the search terms: Artist Market and then Art Market - don’t stop at page 1 or 2 … leaf through all of them to see if anything comes up - you might also want to put your city or state name in front of the words and try that.
4. artnet - I liked the artnet magazine … though mostly this site seems more geared towards Miami so in just a quick look around, it may not be much help to me personally some of the articles were quite interesting and I did like the horoscope
5. Santa Fe International Folk Art Market - this website was fascinating in terms of shopping for all different kinds of art from around the world - I would like to go just to see all the art
6. Giclée Fine Art Printing | allpconline.com, inc - I was very interested in their hologram Certificate of Authenticity for Limited Edition prints and online database of searching it by artist or serial number. They do charge for color correction and minor retouching - it says they do not charge for that if there are no significant “out of gamut” issues. They also provide an estimate before printing. I do advise reading the websites mentioned in my Giclée Prints Explored article BEFORE contacting them or any other printer about digital files and Giclée Prints just to be aware before dealing with a printer.
